Investigating potential treatments for the most prevalent food allergies
Beyond the peanut and the other food allergy programs in our development portfolio, we are examining programs to treat additional common food allergies. Many of the eight most common food allergens — peanut, egg, milk, tree nuts, soy, wheat, fish and shellfish — can be associated with severe allergic reactions. Also, peanut, tree nut, fish and shellfish allergies, along with the persistent forms of allergies to egg and milk, tend to be lifelong conditions.
Nearly a third of people with food allergies are allergic to more than one food. In an effort to help this patient population with multiple food allergies, we are also researching therapies that take a combination approach to desensitization.
